Terms and Privacy PolicyAs an alternative to the main list which receives all messages sent out, there is a low traffic option.
It is actually a sub section of the main list where the [all] flag is placed in the subject line to direct messages to those who are on the low traffic list, everyone is actually on the same list but those on the low traffic list have messages to them suppressed unless there is [all] in the subject line
Members can set up this themselved at the web interface use the options button below. When you have logged in to your account page, scroll down until you find the section headed "Which topic categories would you like to subscribe to?" , tick the box marked All Users, now go down to the next section "Do you want to receive messages that do not match any topic filter?" and make sure 'No' is selected. Your password is in the monthly reminder message, or you can follow the instructions below to recover it.
It is actually a little bit counter intuitive as you are not ticking the All box to get all messages but your are ticking the All box to only get messages that have [all] in the subject line.
You will now only receive messages that have the indicator [all] in the subject line or the first line of the text. This will mean you will not get ordinary messages.
This does rely on members remembering to put that indicator in the message, but you will be sure to get any administration announcements which will be sent out with this indicator.
You can return to the full list at any time by re-visiting the account page and un-ticking the All users box.
Main List Options Technical List OptionsLog in will be required for these links.
If you wish to temporarily suspend delivery for a period away, or if you wish to take a break then there are two ways in which you can do this yourself: The Web interface is perhaps the easiest to use but you will need you password which is sent to you each month.
Go to the user account page by clicking on the Options button below, enter your e-mail address in the provided box and your password in the provided box and then you can log in to your personal page and set your options, there are a number of explained options there, but to temporarily suspend delivery of your mail go down the page until you find the section headed Mail Delivery, where you can set this Enabled or Disabled as you wish. This action does not unsubscribe you from the list so you can still send mail even though you will not receive any.
Main List Options Technical List OptionsLog in will be required for this link.
You can set your mail delivery on or off by e-mail, to do this prepare an e-mail to cwf1-request@cawcom.com with the following details:
The subject of the message should follow the following format:
set authenticate password address=myaddress@domain.com
[where of course you replace password and address with your own details.]
[If you do not know your password then see below on how to obtain it]]
The text should contain the following to suspend delivery:
set delivery off
end
Or to turn on delivery again use the same address and subject but use the following text:
set delivery on
end
If your command is sucessful you will get a message back in the following format:
The results of your email command are provided below. Attached is your original message.
- Results:
delivery disabled by user
or
The results of your email command are provided below. Attached is your
original message.
- Results:
delivery enabled
If you get back a long mail with a list of usable commands then your command was NOT RECOGNIZED and you should try again checking your format first to ensure it is correct.
This can be obtained from the user account page by clicking the Options button below. You may also change your password to something you find easier to remember by visiting this page.
Or you can send a mail to cwf1-request@cawcom.com with the subject in the following format:
password address=myaddress@domain.com
Of course you must change myaddress@domain.com to the address you have registered with the list.
You will get a mail back containing your password.
Main List Options Technical List OptionsThere are two ways to subscribe and unsubscribe from the list.
To subscribe to the group e-mail group simply send a mail to cwf1-join@lists.cawcom.com , subject and body can be blank. All applications are moderated so it may take a short while before your account is enabled. You will need to reply to the message that says you have been approved to verify your mail address.
To totally un-subscribe to the e-mail list send a mail to cwf1-leave@lists.cawcom.com, subject and body blank. Un-subscribing this way is immediate and to rejoin you will have to go through the subscription process again.
For the techinical lists you would use technical-join@cawcom.com or technical-leave@cawcom.com
There is an option to have a digest edition of the list rather than get immediate e-mails. The digest is issued at least once a day, more often if there is a lot of messages.
You can do this via the website, click on the appropriate button below or you can do it via email:
Main List Options Technical List OptionsYou will need a password to access your options if you have forgotten it you can get a reminder from the options page.
Send an email from the address you use to cwf1-request@cawcom.com for the main list or technical-request@cawcom.com for the technical list, you need to put one of the following texts in the subject line, the mail does not neet to contain anything else
set digest plain
set digest mime
set digest off
When the `digest' option is turned off, you will receive postings immediately when they are posted. Use `set digest plain' if instead you want to receive postings bundled into a plain text digest (i.e. RFC 1153 digest). Use `set digest mime' if instead you want to receive postings bundled together into a MIME digest. Basically MIME is formatted HTML where each message is an attachment to the main email, plain is plain text with all mails in the body of the e-mail.
There are a number of commands that the experienced user may wish to use to control thier subscription.
To obtain a list of the basic commands send an e-mail to cwf1-request@cawcom.com with the single word help in the subject and no text. You will be mailed back a list of instructions.
To obtain the more advanced set commands, send an e-mail to cwf1-request@cawcom.com with the two words, set help , in the subject and no text.
This is email command help for version 2.1.26 of the "Mailman"
list manager. The following describes commands you can send to get information about and control your subscription to Mailman lists at this site. A command can be in the subject line or in the body of the message.
Note that much of the following can also be accomplished via the World Wide Web, at:
http://cawcom.com/mailman/listinfo/cwf1_cawcom.com
In particular, you can use the Web site to have your password sent to your delivery address.
List specific commands (subscribe, who, etc) should be sent to the *-request address for the particular list, e.g. for the 'mailman'
list, use 'mailman-request@...'.
About the descriptions - words in "<>"s signify REQUIRED items and words in "[]" denote OPTIONAL items. Do not include the "<>"s or "[]"s when you use the commands.
The following commands are valid:
confirm
Confirm an action. The confirmation-string is required and should be
supplied by a mailback confirmation notice.
end
Stop processing commands. Use this if your mail program automatically
adds a signature file.
